Back from overseas, and into the swing of things! I’ve been home for a few weeks now, and am just getting used to the idea now. I am no longer walking to the wrong side of the car to drive, and am no longer turning my windshield wipers on to indicate. I’m officially back!
It was an epic time, visiting family and friends, playing music and listening to music. More than that though, it’s seeing those people in those places.
It was a grand tour of my home, where every room’s decor is unique and starkly different from the last. The west coast of Canada (Vancouver Island) to see my family…and swim in the river where once we were but wee tadpoles, but now the next generation up the chain. To Montreal to see my friends, my gang, my city with its sights and smells, and food and wine. On to New Orleans, if a BFF could be a city. To Clarksdale, Mississippi, my last home before moving back to Melbourne. Playing music in the place where music comes from, riding the levee on a hot afternoon, buzzing about doing not much of much. Memphis, the city I love like a first cousin, an older one that is cool. To Franklin, Tennessee to see Willie Nelson live in concert at an amphitheatre out in the woods in the hills! WILLIE! At 90, he’s still pickin’ & grinnin’, and still made me cry. Nashville, San Francisco, Yosemite National Park….
It’s all too much to recount, really, so i’ll just say this – if you’re ever planning a trip to North America, holler at me. I’ve got hot tips for days….
